By the Esplanade

The Esplanade is a waterfront location just north of the mouth of the Singapore River in downtown Singapore. The most prominent building is the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay, which is the major performance arts venue in Singapore.

The Esplanade Bridge is a 260 m long  road bridge that spans across the mouth of the Singapore River in Singapore with the Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay on its northern abutment and the Merlion on the southern. The bridge is 70 m wide and has seven spans and supports two four-lane carriageways and walkways along both sides.

The Merlion - Night & Day

The icon of Singapore, the Merlion, is a combination of a lion's head and fish body. The lion's head represents Singapore, also known as the lion city, and the fish represents Singapore's origin as a fishing village.

There are multiple merlion statues around Singapore, but the original is the one located at the mouth of Singapore River, in the Merlion Park. This statue has been moved 120m to the current location in 2002, since the construction of the Esplanade Bridge blocked the Merlion from the river.
